• gravypicante Posted 2013-04-30 Awesome plugin! I tried so many different methods of converting SketchUp files to STL files. I seemed able to get STL files, but they were all buggy and could not be used by my 3D printer. So THE PERSON IN QUESTION downloaded this plugin. Endeavored on the start try! Personally mine 3D printer happily accepted the STL file. What a relief to finally identify something that works! I can't imagine why the aforementioned file owns any undesirable ratings. My best guess is that people don't understand what to do with a patch directory, and get frustrated. To add the plugin, just lower the "stl4su.rb" file into your plugins folder. Linked to my own information machine, the plugins folder was located at: "C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 8\Plugins", only that this mainframe may be faintly different. Restart SketchUp and behold under the "Tools" menu. You should now see the pick "Export to STL...". Using the way, I'm using SketchUp Version 8.0.16846 for Windows XP. However, I found these around purely copying "/Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 7/SketchUp/plugins/stl4su.rb" to "/Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 8/SketchUp/plugins/" it worked modestly solid with SU 8. I'm emphatically you can do something alike under Windows. There's no documentation other than the README file, but usage is trivial: convey with the help of "File > Import..." and sell abroad via "Tools > Export to STL". One caveat: STL catalogs experience no unit or scale information in the group, on that account you requirement to clear attention to your export units and your gain options.
