Blogging for Buyers: you’re moving to Boise

Boise, ID game:

You have a spouse and 1.14 kids, and spouse got job at HP in Boise, Idaho.

How do you decide where to live?

  1. Where’s the focus?  What’s the catalyst for the move? How big is the radius?
  2. Do basic “keyword” research.
  3. Find the gap. What’s NOT being discussed? What’s the competition not doing?
  4. Provide options and overview.
  5. Pick your favorite and detail the best choices and explain.
  6. Go deep. Do multiple topics. Neighborhoods, schools, parks, commute times, local attractions, etc..

Be the expert. At all times have a call to action! What instant gratification can you give them for reaching out to you? Free e-book? Home valuation? etc.

Step 1) where is HP in relation to Boise (think Frisco vs. Dallas):

Step 2: Google Search – google suggested I put “area” after my initial “best places to live in boise”

Rank best neighborhoods that you want to cover. Maybe Top 5, Top 7, max would be Top 10. I’ve read many SEO reports where they say to make it odds numbers.  And you want your “phase” to be seven or eight words OR 15 to 17.  You want to bookend the keywords.  Ex: “5 Best Neighborhoods to buy around Boise Idaho”.  Notice how keywords like 5 Best Neighborhoods and the Boise, Idaho (spelled out) are at the beginning and end.

Here are the results

FYI at the very bottom was more hints for keywords

Step 3) Visited this site – now looking for ideas.

I picked this one because it was five best neighborhoods.  Why wouldn’t someone want to live in Top 5 places?  I don’t want the 9th best, I want the best.  Plus meta tag said “tree-lined” and “older neighborhood” which means there were specifics and appeared as though they know what they’re talking about.

Side note: Maybe Top 5, Top 7, max would be Top 10.

Stpe 3A) Pick your article and read it:

In the article notice how ‘ol Aaron is now the authority. It’s great article which means Aaron must be great.

I like the looks of the West Spring / East End.  Expensive, Victorian, good homes, etc.. Let’s hone in on that.

Side note: notice how Micron Tech – one of the biggest employers of Idaho is listed.  (I know because when I started this example I did “biggest employers in Boise.” Micron was huge but HP is better know which is why I used it for my example.) I could have very easily searched for “best neighborhoods near HP in Boise”.  I’m willing to bet this article would have appeared here too.

Step 5) Now let’s google “Warm Spring Boise Idaho” and see if we like it.

Step 5 A) let’s pick and article and read it. I picked this because of Meta tags. Appears to tell me about neighborhood.

“Warm Springs Mesa is a neighborhood in Boise, Idaho. Warm Springs Mesa is in Ada County. Living in Warm Springs Mesa offers residents a suburban feel and …”

Now rinse and repeat.  Do this and make sure you know it’s LOCAL.  I would have picked “long-time Dallasite reviews DFW.”
