Podcast Prep

Thank you for joining me in the podcast journey. We will be using Zoom.us to conduct the interview via phone. You do not need to download or install Zoom. You’re welcome to call in via phone.

A few minutes before the call I will send you a text message to confirm your availability. I will then email you an invitation via Zoom. The email will contain two phone numbers and a meeting ID.

Simply call one of the numbers in the invitation and enter the nine-digit meeting ID when prompted. Hint: if you’re on your mobile phone you can simply “click” one of the the number links and your phone will do the rest (including entering the meeting ID).

The Zoom answering service will ask for you for a participation number, you’re welcome to skip that step and enter pound (#). We should now be connected via phone.

Video Conferencing

You are welcome to join me via video in addition to dialing in via phone. Note: Even when using video you should dial-in using your phone unless you have a headset for your computer. The audio quality is significantly better via phone.

To join via video go to Zoom.us and select “JOIN A MEETING”. You will be prompted to download the software at some point. Follow the instructions.

After the download is complete, enter the nine-digit meeting ID provided in the invitation email.

Audio Prompt

An audio prompt will appear when joining the conference. There are two tabs at the top: “Phone Call” (highlighted in blue in the image below) and “Computer Audio”. Be sure to join the meeting using your phone’s audio (unless you have a headset connected to your computer).

We should now be connected and ready to make podcast gold!

You are welcome to enable video on your computer. Doing so will enable your computer’s camera and display the image in Zoom.  Make certain you’re ready to show the world what your camera sees. 🙂
